One of the world’s largest gatherings of Pakistani celebrities and cultural figures lit up Houston, Texas, on October 11 at the 10th Annual HUM Awards, a celebration of Pakistan’s vibrant entertainment industry and global diaspora influence.
The HUM Awards have become a cornerstone event honoring excellence in television, music, and fashion. For the second time, the show was hosted in Houston—home to one of the largest Pakistani communities in the U.S.—as part of HUM TV’s broader commitment to celebrating talent both at home and abroad.
And Pakistan’s stars were out. Among the winners and celebrities in attendance were Bilal Abbas Khan and Salal Ajay, two of the biggest honorees of the night. Bilal Abbas Khan took home Best Actor for his role in Ishq Murshid, which also won Best Drama. Salal Ajay won Best Actress for her powerful performance in Zard Patton Ka Bunn.
Hania Aamir was honored with the Global Star Award, one of the evening’s most prestigious recognitions. Adnan Siddiqui received the HUM Special Golden Plate for his decades-long contribution to Pakistani television and cinema.
Musical highlights brought the crowd to life. Asim Azhar opened the evening with Meem Se Mohabbat, and Ahmed Jahanzeb (winner of the Best OST Award) performed emotional selections from the Ishq Murshid soundtrack. Later in the evening, Ali Zafar energized the audience with Masti, and Ali Haider delivered a nostalgic rendition of his iconic track Ali Haider.
On the red carpet, Pakistani fashion was on full display. Mahira Khan turned heads in an elegant ivory Iqbal Hussain sari, while Shuja Asad made a statement in a dark green, embroidered Nomi Ansari coat.
Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, attended the event to show support for Pakistan’s cultural diplomacy. He emphasized the strong ties between the U.S. and Pakistani communities, particularly in Houston, and noted that for many Pakistanis, Houston feels like family. The Ambassador also recognized the role of cultural exchange in strengthening bilateral ties.
This year’s HUM Awards reflected more than just glitz and glamour. The event celebrated the creative spirit of Pakistan, the diaspora’s growing influence, and the shared cultural appreciation between Pakistan and the United States. Texas, like Pakistan, is a land of deep traditions, artistic pride, and hospitality.
Ultimately, the evening affirmed a broader message: Pakistan is a powerhouse of artistic innovation and storytelling, and its creative industries are ready to partner globally—from Houston to Hollywood.
